It’s On: HUD Files Housing Discrimination Complaint Against Facebook

Friday, Aug, 17- Ben Carson ignited a Secretary-Initiated Complaint, which will result in a formal fact-finding investigation of Facebook.
“The Fair Housing Act prohibits housing discrimination including those who might limit or deny housing options with a click of a mouse,” said Anna María Farías, HUD’s Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity.
“When Facebook uses the vast amount of personal data it collects to help advertisers to discriminate, it’s the same as slamming the door in someone’s face,”she said.

According to the Press Release:
“The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced today a formal complaint against Facebook for violating the Fair Housing Act by allowing landlords and home sellers to use its advertising platform to engage in housing discrimination.
HUD claims Facebook enables advertisers to control which users receive housing-related ads based upon the recipient’s race, color, religion, sex, familial status, national origin, disability, and/or zip code. Facebook then invites advertisers to express unlawful preferences by offering discriminatory options, allowing them to effectively limit housing options for these protected classes under the guise of ‘targeted advertising.’ Read HUD’s complaint against Facebook.
“The Fair Housing Act prohibits housing discrimination including those who might limit or deny housing options with a click of a mouse,” said Anna María Farías, HUD’s Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity. “When Facebook uses the vast amount of personal data it collects to help advertisers to discriminate, it’s the same as slamming the door in someone’s face.”
The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing transactions including print and online advertisement on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, or familial status. HUD’s Secretary-initiated complaint follows the Department’s investigation into Facebook’s advertising platform which includes targeting tools that enable advertisers to filter prospective tenants or homebuyers based on these protected classes.
For example, HUD’s complaint alleges Facebook’s platform violates the Fair Housing Act. It enables advertisers to, among other things:
- display housing ads either only to men or women;
- not show ads to Facebook users interested in an “assistance dog,” “mobility scooter,” “accessibility” or “deaf culture”;
- not show ads to users whom Facebook categorizes as interested in “child care” or “parenting,” or show ads only to users with children above a specified age;
- to display/not display ads to users whom Facebook categorizes as interested in a particular place of worship, religion or tenet, such as the “Christian Church,” “Sikhism,” “Hinduism,” or the “Bible.”
- not show ads to users whom Facebook categorizes as interested in “Latin America,” “Canada,” “Southeast Asia,” “China,” “Honduras,” or “Somalia.”
- draw a red line around zip codes and then not display ads to Facebook users who live in specific zip codes.
Additionally, Facebook promotes its advertising targeting platform for housing purposes with “success stories” for finding “the perfect homeowners,” “reaching home buyers,” “attracting renters” and “personalizing property ads.”
In addition, today the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) filed a statement of interest, joined in by HUD, in U.S. District Court on behalf of a number of private litigants challenging Facebook’s advertising platform.
HUD agrees with what we have said for years: Facebook and other digital platforms must comply with civil rights laws. It's past time Facebook put an end to all illegal discriminatory advertising on its platforms. https://t.co/u8yYrTWE9O

TROLL ALERT: President Trump Fights Twitter Censorship In The Most Epic Way!

On Friday night, Twitter censored and later removed a video clip from President Trump’s feed after the band REM complained about the copyrighted song that was playing in the background of the video. Mike Mills from the band REM to the fight on Twitter responding to anyone’s comments on his decision to report the post and made sure everyone knew how much he disliked the President.
No, it’s #PresidentAsshole and they’re welcome to use other bands’ music. https://t.co/t1EPL6kgSr

Without hesitation, President Trump once again tweeted the same video clip made by Carpe Donktum but this time with a different music in the background. “God bless the U.S.A.” replace the song from REM, which fit much perfectly. Trump being Trump, he pined the post to the top of his page.

BIG TECH TYRANNY: President Trump Censored By Twitter After Sharing A Meme

On Friday after declaring a National Emergency, President Trump retweeted a parody video meme of the State of the Union Address and pined it on the top of his page. Within hours, the video was no longer visible for anyone to see. However, the video can still be viewed from the account that originally uploaded and created it.

When the President’s supporters noticed Twitter censoring Trump’s retweet, Carpe Donktum then re-posted his parody video on the thread with the caption “Twitter censoring you Mr. President? I got you fam.

— Carpe Donktum🔹 (@CarpeDonktum) February 16, 2019
According to Twitter’s reason for taking down the video only from the President’s page was due to copyright music playing in the background of the video. REM were the band playing but decided to reach out to Twitter and not have their music played by Trump since they dislike the President. However, the independent journalist Ali Alexander suggested some legal advice for Carpe Donktum to keep the video on under the repurposing of art.
Twitter has honored a copyright claim and censored @realDonaldTrump.@CarpeDonktum needs to write @parscale a letter licensing art.
NYC judges are great with Fair Use and repurposing of artwork.
Trump campaign should sue REM song copyright holder.
Let's do it for the culture.

An0maly Under Cyber Attack: Will He Be The Next To Be Gone?

The political commentator and rapper An0maly from Los Angeles, California, was temporarily banned from Facebook for a period of 3 days. An0maly was one of the many people who “woke up” during the 2016 Presidential elections after being a former Bernie Sanders supporter. He also campaigned for Bernie Sanders and wrote songs about him until he realized that Senator Sanders was on the same team as the establishment. When the election day arrived, An0maly knew that President Trump was perfect for they job, but instead gave his vote to the Green Party candidate Jill Stein. From then on, the YouTube channel that he originally created to promote his music, later became a political commentating channel where he gained an audience of thousands of people who value his perspective on the way of life.
Tuesday, while An0maly was in the middle of streaming live talking about the important issues in the black community, Facebook interrupted his stream, locked him out of his account, and banned him for a video he posted about 6 months ago. The video clip was Roseanne Barr talking to late night host show Jimmy Kimmel regarding why she supported President Trump. “I’m shocked at it because I know you are a very liberal, socially liberal person in general,” said Kimmel to Roseanne after she admitted that she wants President Trump to succeed, as she would for any other sitting president. “I’m still the same, you all moved,” Roseanne responded to Kimmel, “You all went so f**king far off you lost everyone.” Kimmel then laughed along as he agreed, “you’re probably right, by the way.” This was the damaging clip posted on An0maly’s alternative page on Facebook called World Cloud. However, although the video was posted on a different page managed by An0maly, that did not stop Facebook from locking him out from posting on any Facebook platforms.
Facebook just logged me out mid-stream & banned me for 3 days over a 6 month old video on another one of my pages. 1984 continues. pic.twitter.com/5ffNNsJDGs

An0maly has reaches millions of people from both sides of the political aisle from a central point of view. With a message of love and tolerance, he expects to reach the ears of those who are willing to listen to his message. However, after Facebook banned him for a video that was not offensive nor violated the social media’s terms, An0maly went rampage on his YouTube channel and Twitter page assuring the reason why he was now experiencing the cyber attacks was due to his effective message, which gives popularity over CNN’s Chris Cuomo and others combined without spending a penny to promote his page.
This is why they are mad. I’m outperforming their multi-million dollar puppets & I didn’t spend a single dime. pic.twitter.com/cizrqtPHZE

I have two times as many followers on Facebook than Chris Cuomo, Chris Hayes & Shep Smith. They have multi-million dollar contracts with the biggest broadcasting companies in the world & get to millions daily on TV.
I sit on my couch. Lmfao.

Due to his frustration, An0maly ranted about the right wing pundits Candace Owens and Brandon Straka for not standing up for him or giving him a platform like he once did to for them. Owens who is now the leader of the Blexit movement of black conservatives, invited An0maly to the Blexit event without giving him a chance to speak to the audience. “They want to fly me to an event to make me watch other conservative speakers, 6 out of 10 of them, that are 1/100 of the size of me,” said An0maly after the conservative event refused to give him at least one minute to speak while others get 30 minutes, although they are less know than he is.
An0maly was one of the first to walk away from the Democratic party and helped Brandon Straka rise with his Walk Away movement. Straka thanked An0maly for the help but never gave him a chance to speak in either of his events.
“Now that I’m gone, now that I can’t access my community, now that, you know, do what I built, who’s going to speak out for me? Who’s going to allow me to speak at their events?” An0maly said hoping someone will hear him and help his message to continue. Then An0maly added, “I’m just curious, which establishment conservatives and which mainline conservatives will stand up for me? Will the people who I helped get to their place stand up for me? I don’t know.”
An0maly swears he will not go down without a fight, as he affirms that he will continue to speak regardless if he has a social media or not. Being one of the many conservative giants, Fox news or any other conservative outlets have never invited An0maly as a guest to debate or be interviewed. However, Populist Media does not forget of those who battle in this culture war and help others open their eyes to the reality of the world; Therefore, we will give him a platform and a voice to continue helping others liberate themselves from the mind control.
